August 24, 2011
The Summit Church, Raleigh-Durham, NC
The face of missions is changing. Today’s global economy offers followers of Jesus opportunities to interact with nations and people groups once accessed by only remote missionaries. In many of these places, ‘traditional’ missions has proven ineffective or illegal. If the gospel is going to reach these peoples, it’s going to happen on the backs of business – through men and women who leverage their skills in the marketplace for the sake of the gospel.
Join us Wednesday, August 24th, as Patrick Lai shares about Business as Mission. A leading expert on the subject, Patrick Lai will share how strategically placed businesses in unreached areas can create jobs in the local community that bring transformation to a segment of society through evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.
About the Speaker
Patrick Lai has worked in SE Asia for 28 years among unreached people as a serial entrepreneur. During that time, God has enabled his team to plant two churches and two fellowships among Muslims while starting several profitable small businesses. He is the founder of the OPEN Network, a network of over 350 business as mission workers, and the co-founder of Empresas Vida International, an organization which opens businesses in strategic locations for workers from the Global South. He is the author of Tentmaking: The Life and Work of Business as Missions.
